I will make this short and sweet, as I have trouble at times writing these types of emails, but they must be written and I do not want to take an opportunity away from anyone to help.
If any of you have been to Bangalore, India then you know the troubles there are with electricity. There are rolling blackouts and everyday the Seminary loses power for a period of time that disrupts class time and events. If a teacher is utilizing a powerpoint presentation then it will fail, because there is no power. If there is a church service or outreach presentation then we are stuck because we lose mics and again projection, making it very frustrating. Many of you have lost power during a storm for a few hours and maybe a day, but think about how frustrating it would be every day for up to three hours. What if that was at night? It is hard for the students who stay in the dorms as well, especially when they need to cook, study, utilize computers and move around with no power at night.
A generator is needed that will automatically turn on when the power goes out. It is charged while the power is on and basically uses that power when it goes out, recycling itself. All major business, universities, schools, hospitals and the like have one. For years they have been doing without, but with growth and looking at more outreaches, it has become a great hindrance and frustration.
Secondly, the school needs to add classrooms to the structure so they can accommodate more students and staff, as we are all tripping on ourselves. The goal is to add four classrooms to the top of the building. This is not a way to attain more property, as the rooms are being added to the top and only room is being accommodated that is absolutely needed, which I appreciate when working with donated funds, the Lords money.
The generator, to cover a building with 4 floors costs $3,000 American dollars, or $120,000 Rupees. The second floor addition would cost $28,000 American dollars, or $1,120,000 Rupees.
If you are lead to give or help in anyway you can either donate online through the FirstGiving Widget on the left side of the blog, or send a donation to REAP, and the address is on the left side of the blog. Just indicate what the money is to be used for and it will be put into that account.
Remember, 100% of your funds will be used for the purpose indicated, as REAP takes no administration costs. FirstGiving online does take a percentage of 7% for admin and credit card usage costs.
Love in Christ!!
