It is hard to believe we only have about 7 weeks left in India. As the time draws closer, I find myself, Erin, getting teary eyed as I say goodbye to different people and do some things here for the last time. I know God’s plan is best for us, and this is certainly His plan right now, but still, I don’t feel quite that I have had my fill of India yet and all that God is doing here, and allowing us to be a part of. We have certainly not been slowing down in ministry, which is a good thing, and has been our prayer, that God would use us so effectively in the time we had left. You do not come to India for ministry and sit idle; there is much going on and much to be done! Pastor Jayakumar is certain to keep all of us busy at all times, which is such a blessing.
Alan has just finished up teaching. He taught six courses in the short 8 and a half months we have been here so far! He is still called on to preach at church occasionally, as well. Right now, he is grading tests and papers, and getting grades finalized as the school year comes to a close, and those graduating do so on April 13th. He helped another seminary with their PhD program and recently taught a seminar for a conference week they had at our seminary here. Now, he is teaching an apologetics course on Saturday mornings for the duration of April at a local church. He will be preaching the first message for the Lenten series this week on Monday night, as well. Like I said, they keep us busy, even right up to the end, and it is such a blessing. Alan will continue to help Pastor Jayakumar develop programs for the school and work on missions’ projects from the states, as well. Thank goodness for technology! Alan also hopes to come back during summers again in the future to teach classes at the seminary.
I have had the opportunity to teach again at a women’s Monday Prayer meeting recently. I also just taught the message at our Friday Bible Study Fellowship this past Friday. I have been helping Pastor Jayakumar with editing and formatting articles and papers that he wishes to get published for ministry here in India. Also, I am working with his wife on typing and formatting sermons to be circulated to the church plants here in India as resources. These are things I will continue doing in the states via the computer, which will be a blessing. The children’s curriculum at the church has been operating for several months now and is going well, and curriculum is still being developed, now by a team of Indians, which is a blessing as we want these lessons to be indigenous and culture appropriate!
We are very sure that we will be doing active ministry here until the day we fly out! And this is an answer to our prayers. Thank you for all of your support.
